Milan, 22 October, 2024 – 9:00
Palazzo Visconti – Via Cino del Duca, 8
INTRODUCTION
As international literature (Pali, Forsyth & Tepper, 2022) suggests, environmental restorative justice represents a new direction of restorative justice that offers an innovative approach to environmental harm. Such expression is open to concepts of “environmental” justice (that is concerned with the welfare of human beings), “ecological” justice (that is concerned directly with the biosphere and the eco-systems), “species” justice (that focuses on the well-being and the rights of non-human animals and plants) and “climate” justice (that includes climate changes and its associated injustices).
Thanks to the dialogue of some leading scholars, experts in environmental restorative justice, from all parts of the world, the conference has the aim of on informing and involving actively scholars, professional people, policy makers and interested citizens, in an attempt at expanding the scope of restorative justice in order to encompass environmental harms – past, present and future. Starting from a plurality of theoretical and applied perspectives, the invited speakers will reflect on the opportunities and challenges that characterize this new form of restorative justice.
